The software also calculates the Scholler Classification, Corrositvity ratio, Chloride Classification, Cation, Anion facies and Handas Classification for each sample. (Soluble Sodium Percentage) and Na% (Sodium Percentage). (Non Carbonate Hardness), P.I, (Permeability Index), K.R. (Index to Base Exchange), Schollers water type, R.S.C. The output of the software presents the parameters like I.B.E.
The input data includes Ca, Mg, Na, K, Cl, HCO 3, SO 4, F, NO 3, Si, TDS, EC, pH and Temperature. In this context a software was coded in C++ and compiled in Visual C for the basic interpretation of the geochemical data, considering the utility thermodynamic nature and classification of water. There are several software's available for this purpose, but still they do not include all the required parameters for the classification purpose or all the popular diagrams basically required for the study. The results are also studied for understanding the thermodynamic states to determine geochemistry and the nature of the reactions. The results are then studied for various utility purposes, such as domestic, drinking, and agriculture. I default to GWB in most cases because of what I do as a geochemical modeler, but I have no problem recommending AqQA for plotting and data assessment.The chief constituents in water samples are obtained by the geochemical analysis.
If you can work with a spreadsheet and follow the straightforward instructions for generating figures, you can be up and running in a matter of 10 minutes with AqQA. There is not a steep learning curve with AqQA. You can do all of the associated equilibrium and reaction modeling with PHREEQC (public domain, freeware). If you are principally interested in plotting of basic geochem diagrams for water chemistry, then I highly recommend AqQA. With the Essential version of GWB, you can do a lot more basic geochemical analysis/modeling than you can with AqAQ, and that includes generating Eh-pH disgrams, equilibrium/speciation, etc, but there is really not much difference in the quality of common geochemical plots (Piper, Durov, Schoeller, Stiff, XY, etc) generated by the two programs. AqQA is equivalent to the Geochemist's Spreadsheet and associated plotting modules of GWB, but costs much less (~$350) than the Essentials version of GWB ($2200 for a perpetual license, $700 for an annual license).
